Adoption process.
Horses are not adopted out first come first serve.
Fill an adoption form and someone will be in touch, make sure to include phone number and email
If you are a good match, someone will be in touch for a phone interview
A meet and greet is done with the potential adopters. We do not adopt horses out of the adopter cannot come in person.
A virtual home check is done so that HHERS can see where the horse will be staying.
After the adoption contact is received , and adoption fee, you’re free to take your baby home!
Hope & Hera
Hope and mama Hera were seizures from the ASPCA. They were both severely emaciated and in horrible shape. Heras body couldn’t sustain another pregnancy, and she aborted a foal after arriving. While Hera is physically gaining weight, she’s extremely fearful of people. Baby Hope just spent 4 days in emergency fighting for her life. She isn’t out of the woods yet, but she’s home!
Mira
Available For Adoption!
Iris and Sybil
Iris came to us Fall 2024, with her baby Mira at side. Both of them completely un handled and terrified. Iris has gotten much more comfortable around people and let’s us get very close, and will come for food. Iris was already rebred, and baby Sybil was born on June 9, 2025. Neither will be accepting applications until Sybil is older and weaned
Dakota and Faith
Dakota is a young mare, around 10 years old. Dakota had recently weaned a baby, prior to arriving at HHERS. She was confirmed bred again shortly after. On June 19, 2025, Dakota gave birth to baby Faith. Neither willl be accepting applications until Faith is older and weaned.
Esme & Matteo
Esme and her colt, Matteo recently arrived (June 2025). Esme is very curious, but very nervous being touched. She came emaciated, while Matteo is Ribby with a pointy top line. Esme is said to be only 3 years old, just a baby herself. Neither will be accepting applications until Matteo is older and weaned
Lilly
Lilly is a mini who's about 6 years old. She has faced severe neglect and we had to saw off about 1 foot of hoof. She came in with her friend Violet, who sadly after months of trying to rehabilitate her, we had to say goodbye. Lilly is a sassy girl who can be difficult to catch, but once she is caught, she calms right down! Lilly is social and friendly, and waiting for a family of her own. Lillys adoption fee is $450, but if someone would be willing to open their home to both Lilly, and her buddy Kiwi, adoption fee will be discounted!
Kiwi mini pony mare
Kiwi is a 12 year old mini mare. She is a sassy, sweet and curious girl! Kiwi needs a home that will control her diet, as she looks at food and gains weight! She has not foundered since being with us, over a year, but maintaining a healthy weight is important! Kiwis adoption fee is $450, but would be discounted if an amazing family would be willing to keep her and Lilly together!
Abbigale and Roo
Abbigale is in her mid to late 20s. She was confirmed bred after arriving. On June 7 2025, she gave birth to her little colt, Roo. Abbigale is part of our sanctuary program, and Roo will not be accepting applications until weaning.
Adena- 24 yr Mare
Adena arrived with her best friend Paedyn, sadly Paedyn had an old injury we couldn’t fix. It took many months for Adena to start to heal from the loss of her friend, but she happily loves her herd mates now! Adena is part of our sanctuary program, meeting new people at hospitals and senior homes!
19 year gelding
Dobby arrived with Gryff, who is a sanctuary senior here. He is not available for adoption at this time. Dobby has had some meetings with children with special needs, and is starting to visit our local senior care facility!
Gryff- 23year gelding
Gryffindor spent 9+ months rehabbing his feet after he arrived severely foundered. Gryff is sound now, but with his age and metabolic disease, Gryff is now a sanctuary horse
